Onguma Bush Camp
Bush Camp is Onguma's most family-oriented camp and one of two child-friendly accommodations on the reserve. Eighteen rooms, including loft and family configurations, sit within a largely fenced environment overlooking one of the reserve's most active waterholes. The wildlife comes to you here: from the lounge, the dining area, the treetop hide, the pool, the waterhole is a constant source of activity at any hour of the day. It is a relaxed, accessible camp with genuine warmth, and the natural base for families wanting a real bush experience without formality.
Accommodation
Rondavel Rooms
Three rondavels built in the traditional circular style with thatched roofs, forming part of the original camp buildings. Each offers twin beds, an en-suite bathroom, and a small patio overlooking the gardens. A charming and characterful option with genuine historical camp feel.
Loft Rooms
Three loft rooms designed with families in mind. Twin beds on the ground level with additional loft beds for children, en-suite bathrooms, and a small patio overlooking the gardens. A practical and fun configuration for families travelling with younger children.
Family Rooms
Three family rooms each sleeping four guests, with facilities in line with the standard rooms. The most straightforward option for families who want everyone under one roof with room to move.
Deluxe Rooms
Eight spacious deluxe rooms with twin beds, large en-suite bathrooms, and a small private patio. Please note that three of the deluxe rooms are located in an unfenced section of the camp and are not recommended for families travelling with young children.
Settler’s Room
One generous room, formerly the honeymoon suite, offering additional space and privacy for couples or guests looking for something a little different within the Bush Camp setting.

Family Experiences at Bush Camp
Bush Camp is one of two child-friendly accommodations on the Onguma reserve and the home of the Young Explorers programme, an interpretive walking experience designed specifically for children covering bird, tree, and insect identification around the camp. The staff at Bush Camp are particularly experienced with younger guests, and the camp’s largely fenced environment gives families the freedom to move around comfortably and safely.
